Ride + Stride

Join us for a great day out!

Ride + Stride is an annual event that that raises more than £1.5 million for churches right across the country.

For the Sussex Historic Churches Trust, It is by far our biggest fundraiser of the year and plays a vital role in enabling the Trust to help churches throughout West and East Sussex. Funds raised are shared equally between the Trust and the place of worship nominated by each participant.

This year Ride + Stride is taking place on Saturday, September 13 from 9am to 5pm.

Our goal is to have at least 200 places of worship take part in 2025.

Ride + Stride is a lot of fun, giving everyone the chance to explore some of Sussex's unique historic buildings while also raising vital funds. The event is open to all - you don't need to be a church goer or affiliated with any particular place of worship.

Our goal this year is to have at least 200 churches take part along with thousands of  sponsored participants. Any place of worship - of any denomination - can join in.

All money raised is split 50:50 between the church of your choice and the Sussex Historic Churches Trust.

How does it work?

Ride + Stride is open to all! Get your friends and family to sponsor you and then visit as many different churches as you can throughout the day. You can choose any route you want and any mode of transport – walk, run, cycle, ride – or even drive – between the different churches on the route you've chosen.

You can be sponsored either based on the number of churches you manage to visit or by a flat donation. After the event, you can collect the sponsorship money personally or collect sponsorships online via our JustGiving page.

Churches open their doors to visitors if they are able. Some may also provide refreshments for weary travellers on their way!
